Beyond what your eyes can see is a world of limitless potential!

What is ICU Academy?

(Inspiring Children Universally)

Balloon filled with love and compassion

ICU Academy is a unique and innovative program, developed in the United Kingdom, that has helped children world-wide tap into their own limitless potential and capabilities by aligning their human mind (logical left brain) and their higher consciousness (creative right brain) to function in a more balanced, creative way.

ICU Academy 4 Corners is located in Durango, Colorado but serves the surrounding four corners region. It is an off-shoot of the ICU Academy and is owned and facilitated by long-time Durango resident and educator, JoAnne Hibbard.

At ICU Academy 4 Corners, we use fun and pioneering teaching techniques to gently guide our students to expand their minds, awareness, and consciousness by challenging the belief that sight is the only way to see. They begin to explore life from an entirely different perspective: without the use of their physical eyes!

You see, we are all born with more than just five senses. Our extraordinary senses like intuition, inner vision, energetic awareness, etc. are a natural part of being human, but often ignored in modern societal constructs. These senses allow us to feel energy, sense other people's emotional states, connect with animals, and listen to our own inner guidance.

As we tune in and reconnect with ourselves, these gifts can start to awaken. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹Children often access these extraordinary senses with ease, and when supported, can develop them into lifelong tools for healing, clarity and connection.

So, our students not only learn to see blindfolded using their own inner light and extrasensory awareness, but often discover that other delightful gifts and talents, like more confidence, better memory, concentration, and attention span, as well as improved academic performance,  and intuition have come on board as well! It is truly amazing!

Children are taught 1:1 by ICU Teacher JoAnne Hibbard at the ICU Academy 4 Corners in Durango, Colorado.

Children can only be taught in pairs and groups once their level of competency is established.

Children attend between 10-12 one-hour sessions (dependent on their proficiency) either weekly or bi-weekly according to availability.

The cost per session is $35. In the case of siblings a 20% discount will be applied to one.

What Happens in the Sessions?

"It's Not A Super Power. It's An Ability That Anyone Can Do. They Just Have To Learn It!"  Lucie, 6

  • Each session centers around helping each student feel happy, comfortable and empowered. It is important that they are continually encouraged. Naysayers in their lives can shut this ability down in a heartbeat!

  • The session begins with the student putting on their "mindfold", closing their eyes, and participating in an energy activation to get them out of their analytical left brain and into their creative, intuitive right brain. Laughter and fun are fundamental to each ICU session.

  • The student is then handed a colorful picture book and begins the process of convincing their brains not to use their physical eyes to see  but to use other senses instead. Often their eyes itch or water as the brain sends electrical impulses to  stimulate the eyes but quickly dissipates when the brain tunes into the intent.

  • Each child is uniquely different. Some start seeing colors the first session, while others may not see until the sixth session or later. Some never see at all, which is OK! Often times, these kids have some limiting beliefs that are hard for them to bypass but still can learn and grow from the program in many ways.

  • The progression usually develops with the child's "window" opening just enough to start seeing colors through a small opening in the blackness, then as the window enlarges, they see shapes, images, text and so on. After that, they are off to the races, having full blindfolded vision to put together puzzles, play games, run, bead jewelry, ride their bikes, do school work, fine tuning their intuitive abilities, etc. It is amazing sight to behold!

Durango Parents
Kelly and Nate:

"Because she has gained more confidence, she proudly shows off her new skills to family, friends, and even people she doesn't know well. She is doing great in school with improved reading and math skills. She has even been moved to a higher math group!

Another cool perk is that we have been spending more time playing games (with her blindfolded), which has been a fun way to become even more bonded as a family!"

Durango Parents
Jackie and Brett:

"He has grown in many ways since starting the program! His ability to initiate and stay on task is better and his confidence in facing challenges has improved. He is much more aligned to learning as well. His teacher has even noticed a significant improvement in reading fluency, comprehension and math skills!

As a family we have become more cohesive because he is more  humble, compassionate and calm with us and others. It's been such a gift!"
