What is ICU Academy?
("I You" or "Inspiring Children Universally")
ICU Academy is a unique and innovative program for kids that was developed in the UK and is currently taught by ICU Academy certified instructors located all over the world.
One of those instructors is long-time Durango, Colorado educator, JoAnne Hibbard, who established "ICU Academy 4 Corners" to serve children in the 4 Corners area and beyond. She lovingly connects with them using fun and pioneering right-brained teaching techniques, gently shifting them into a more creative, present and expansive state, to tap into their innate capacity to see while blindfolded! This natural ability is present in everyone, but not commonly known, developed or practiced.
Although our program is secular in nature, it seems to progressively stimulate our students' self-awareness, self-confidence, and intuitive abilities as we gently push them to work through any walls of self-doubt or limiting beliefs.
On completion of our *blindfolded vision program, students often demonstrate heightened respect and compassion for themselves and others, memory and focus, as well as improved academic performance. Every child is unique, so results will vary, but each seems to benefit in some amazing way!
*Blindfolded vision is one of the most common ways of referring to this natural ability, but there are many terms that you may be familiar with such as: "Extra or Non-Ocular vision", "Mindsight", "Seeing without eyes", or even "Paroptic Vision" (seeing without light entering the eyes). While there are several divergent scientific theories as to why or how this ability occurs, at this time, there does not seem to be one conclusive or universally accepted answer.
But regardless of where the research is currently at, it is clear to the hundreds, if not thousands of global trainers, parents and students of the ICU program and many other similar programs, the ability to see blindfolded empowers us to believe in our own limitless potential and possibilities!

...and How Does The Program Work?
Who is it For?
The ICU Program is for children between the ages of 6-12, who can read and know colors and shapes, depending on their abilities and maturity.
Who Teaches It?
How Often and How Much?
Children are taught 1:1 by ICU Teacher JoAnne Hibbard at the ICU Academy 4 Corners in Durango, Colorado.
Children can only be taught in pairs and groups once their level of competency is established.
Children attend between eight - twelve 45 minute to one-hour sessions, dependent on their proficiency, either weekly or bi-weekly according to availability.
The cost per session is on a sliding scale: $30 - $45, depending on need. In the case of siblings a 15% discount will be applied to one.

Each session centers around helping each student feel happy, comfortable and empowered. It is important that they are continually encouraged. Naysayers in their lives can shut this ability down in a heartbeat!

The session begins with the student putting on their "mindfold", closing their eyes, and participating in an energy activation to get them out of their analytical left brain and into their creative, intuitive right brain. Laughter and fun are fundamental to each ICU session.

The student is then handed a colorful picture book and begins the process of convincing their brains not to use their physical eyes to see but to use other senses instead. Often their eyes itch or water as the brain sends electrical impulses to stimulate the eyes but quickly dissipates when the brain tunes into the intent.

Each child is uniquely different. Some start seeing colors the first session, while others may not see until the sixth session or later. Some never see at all, which is OK! Often times, these kids have some limiting beliefs that are hard for them to bypass but still can learn and grow from the program in many ways.

The progression usually develops with the child's "window" opening just enough to start seeing colors through a small opening in the blackness, then as the window enlarges, they see shapes, images, text and so on. After that, they are off to the races, having full blindfolded vision to put together puzzles, play games, run, bead jewelry, ride their bikes, do school work, fine tuning their intuitive abilities, etc. It is amazing sight to behold!
